Schultz Residence
The modest 300 sq. ft. addition and existing house remodel was designed to add a master bedroom to the small two bedroom home. With the original small cramped rooms and some previous additions that added poorly utilized space, removing these and reconfiguring the addition and the new spaces opened up a lot more functional living area for the homeowner. Poor building techniques previously had comprimized the integrity of the 80 year old drafty, uninsulated house. The last SIP addition that was done by Earth Bound Homes, this house was typtified the problems associated with attaching perfectly built SIP panels onto a "not nearly so perfect" 80 year old house, which had over 1 inch of fall in 20 feet in the foundation.
This home's many green features include:
- Structural Insulated Panels(SIPs)
- FSC Lumber throughout.
- Lifetime warrantee roof
- Low VOC paints and adhesives
- Recycled content back decks boards
- Tile in wet areas of the bathrooms
- Unfinished attic storage space with 9' ceilings, in the insulated envelope of the house, can be made into living space later with only the installation of a staircase, some electrical, sheetrock and paint, together with the appropriate building inspections.
