Green Point Rating

Green Point Rating can be considered your home’s Green Report Card. This rating system analyses homes on 299 different green elements. Designed and moderated by Build it Green, Green Point Ratings are required for building and remodeling permits in most jurisdictions in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout California.

Project applicants are being required to retain a certified Green Point Rater (GPR) who fills out the checklist before project submission for building permits. To meet the permit requirements, projects must be rated during construction and must meet at least a 50 point threshold in some jurisdictions and up to 100 pts. in other jurisdictions, by project completion.

We are certified to conduct Green Point Rating for new home construction only. Our rates for Green Point Rating are $85/hour. Average costs for less than 100pt. rated homes is $1200-$1400/ plus Build It Green Fees($450). Homes going for more points can expect to pay slightly more for Green Point Rating, depending on the number of points desired. For homes built by other builders and contractors, Earth Bound Homes can rate homes which are then certified by Build It Green. This certification will meet the rating requirements mandated by the jurisdictions requiring Green Point Rated Certification.

Although members of our staff are Certified Green Point Raters and many of our major projects are Green Point Rated, we are required to hire a third party Green Point Rater for our own homes.
